Scope Of Work
AMTRAK needed to significantly upgrade the safety / non-slip properties of the original metal steps in their historic Wilmington, DE station. The installation needed to meet the safety goals of the Engineering Staff and the appearance requirements of the Architectural Review Committee.
The initial review installation was on a concrete staircase that leads from the main platform to a street below the platform. Since it does not lead to the interior of the terminal, Amtrak wanted signage stating "Exit to King Street" at the top of this staircase. Form-A-Tread Safety Yellow and disposable stencils were used to create this permanent, non slip floor signage.
AMTRAK's review was complete and Form-A-Tread was approved to be installed on the historic metal staircase leading to the elevated South and Northbound Tracks. AMTRAK Facilities Engineering approved Form-A-Tread Safety Yellow adn Tread Grit HD for the top and bottom steps and Form-A-Tread Black and Tread Grit HD (Black) on the intermediate steps. The Tread Grit HD (Black) was chosen to closely matched the original historic metal steps.
