Scope Of Work
Skanska provided exterior and interior renovations and improvements to the 31,800-SF iconic Olympia Building located in the heart of Atlanta at 25 Peachtree Street NE for a new Walgreens store. The Olympia Building is a registered historic building and is home to the iconic Coca Cola sign, an Atlanta landmark. The team was required to keep the sign operational and all exterior stone-clad walls intact for the duration of the project. The exterior walls were shored prior to the structural demolition of the interior structure. The core and shell improvements consisted of an extensive structural update including a new membrane roof system and the replacement of interior columns, floor and roof slabs, store fronts and windows. Interior work was performed on two floors and the basement; the scope included drywall partitions, floor tile, suspended ACT with exposed ceilings in specific areas, restrooms, electric service, lighting and HVAC throughout the building. Further interior improvements included a stock area and equipment rooms totaling 4,650-SF in the basement. Exterior site improvements focused on structural support, replacement of the Decatur and Edgewood sidewalks, new bike racks and re-installation of the salvaged paver system.
