Kolin began his professional career as an architect. He received his Bachelors of Architecture from Florida A&M University and worked in architecture until transitioning over to construction management in 2004. 

Once in construction management, Kolin spent over a decade learning and refining his expertise working in project management, field supervision, owner's representation and estimating. He has managed various types of public and private projects that ranged in value up to $ 15 million.
