We concentrate our work, both commercial and residential, in the central San Diego area, much of it located in the Mission Hills, Bankers Hill and Kensington neighborhoods.

PROFILE (by Kathleen Stoughton)  Randy Laurie is a third generation Landscaper who grew up enjoying his grandfather's majestic 78 acre farm near Youngstown, Ohio.  When Randy was eight years old, the farm was designated a national historic landmark.  It's now known as the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve, and has become part of the 4,500+ stunning acres of the Mill Creek MetroPark system owned by the State of Ohio.

As young entrepreneurs, his father and two uncles opened a large garden center (Lauries' Garden City), expanded into the commercial landscaping business (Laurie's Landscaping) and operated an impressive seasonal displays for their huge local county fair.  Randy spent summers and weekends heavily involved with the family businesses.

Randy's interest in plants continued through college where he studied architecture, business and computer science.  After a successful career as a software engineer in San Diego, he opened Laurie's Landscaping, a full-service landscape design and contracting business.  Since 2001 his crew has completed landscape projects ranging from compact and contemporary to sprawling and historic.

He believes that the most successful garden designs always start with the wishes of the client: "My designs are based on individual likes and dislikes; the unique qualities of the architecture; and the functions we want the landscape to creatively serve. My goal is to create a custom garden that will exceed the client's expectations and be sustainable, use a minimal amount of water, and be easy to maintain."
