ROOFING QUESTIONS

  • How can I tell if my rood needs to be replaced?

Roofs should be replaced around the 20 to 25-year mark. By this time, important materials begin to fail. If you’re not sure of the age of your roof, there are a few signs it’s time for a replacement. Curled shingles, leaks, missing shingles, mold, internal water damage, dents, and bald spots are good indicators. If your roof is new and you are experiencing these problems, call the company who installed the roof to find answers.

  • How do I know if a roofing contractor is legitimate?

After natural disasters or large storms, fly-by-night roofers come out of the woodwork. These roofers will show up at your door with a van and promise you the world. Don’t fall for these tricks. It’s always best to choose an established, local company to perform roofing work. This will ensure you know who to turn to if you encounter problems. Read online reviews, ask for recommendations, and do research before choosing a company. It’s also a good idea to find a company with a strong warranty to guarantee the work. A solid, transferable warranty is the mark of a good company.

  • What is the best type of roof?

There is no one answer to this question. The most common options for new roofs include asphalt shingles and metal. Both types have pros and cons. If you’re looking for the most affordable option, shingles may be a good choice. If you’re looking for something modern and unique, a metal roof may be better.

  • If my roof leaks, do I need a whole new roof?

It depends on why your roof is leaking. Older roofs with multiple worn spots and missing shingles will likely need to be replaced. If you have a leak coming in from the chimney or a single missing shingle, a repair may work just fine. Our contractors will determine how much damage has been caused by the leak and then make recommendations.

  • What is the cost of a new roof?

This is a good question but it’s the equivalent of asking how much a vehicle costs. The variables involved are endless. Metal roofs, asphalt shingles, colors, styles, textures, designs, slats, and many other factors weigh into this calculation. Luckily, we offer free estimates for potential clients. With no obligation, we will visit your home and provide an estimate for your roof and desired materials.

ENERGY & SOLAR QUESTIONS

  • What are the financial benefits of solar energy?

When you install a solar energy system on your property, you save money on your electricity bills and protect yourself against rising electricity rates in the future. How much you can save depends on the utility rates and solar policies in your area, but going solar is a smart investment regardless of where you live.

  • What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?

Solar power, like other renewable energy resources, has many environmental and health benefits. Going solar reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change, and also results in fewer air pollutants like sulfur dioxide and particulate matter, which can cause health problems.

  • How do I find out how much I pay for electricity?

The easiest way to find out how much you pay for electricity (and how much electricity you use per month) is to take a look at your utility electricity bill.Review EnergySage’s guide to reading your electricity bill to find out exactly what to look for.

  • How does solar impact my property values?

Studies have shown that homes with solar energy systems sell for more than homes without them. However, your property value will only increase if you own, rather than lease, your solar panel system. In most parts of the country, going solar will actually increase your property value more than a kitchen renovation.

  • Is my roof suitable for solar panels?

Southerly-facing roofs with little to no shade and enough space to fit a solar panel system are ideal for installing solar. However, in many cases there are workarounds if your home doesn’t have the ideal solar roof. Register your property on EnergySage to learn more about all of your options; all installation offers are based on images of your actual roof.
