The DSI team has over 35 years of collective experience in multifamily development, architecture, finance, construction, real estate investments and asset management.
DSI prides itself on developing high quality, attractive, safe and affordable multifamily housing communities for both families and senior adults. We are experts in utilizing Section 42 of the LIHTC Program in the Internal Revenue Code, HOME Investment Partnership, and various HUD funding sources to capitalize the development of our properties. DSI has a strong track record of partnering with some of the most well recognized nonprofit organizations engaging in affordable housing. In 2013, DSI made its entrance into the conventional multifamily market with The Lodge at Johns Road. It is an 83-unit apartment community located in Huntsville, Alabama specifically targeting active adults age 55 and older. DSI’s team believes there to be an unmet need in today’s housing market for rental communities designed and managed with the self-sufficient Baby Boomer in mind. We look forward to expanding this portion of our business and pursuing other niche multifamily opportunities in secondary and tertiary markets.
With a long track record of working with nonprofit partners, DSI understands the unique headwinds faced by nonprofit organizations and public housing authorities desiring to develop new housing or redevelop existing properties. DSI often serves as a consultant to groups of this nature who may not have an in-house development team or cannot easily obtain the knowledge base needed to navigate state housing finance authorities, HUD funding sources and/or the actual real estate development process.
