Scope Of Work
The eight-story, 175-room St. Regis Hotel originally opened in 1926 and is a historic landmark in downtown Washington, DC. The high-end hotel, located just two blocks from The White House, underwent a major 166,000 SF renovation, which involved:
Replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems
Demolition and reconstruction of the guestrooms and guest corridors
Cosmetic repairs/replacements in the public areas and meeting spaces
New public restrooms
Kitchen renovation/upgrade
Upgraded elevator equipment
Roof replacement
The finishes at the St. Regis are very high end, including elaborate built-in millwork items, hand-painted Chinese wallcovering and bathroom mirrors with integral televisions.
The mechanical and electrical systems replacement included a complete removal and replacement of the central plant involving extensive coordination. In addition, pipelining techniques were utilized to line the interior face of existing drain piping in the concrete slab above the main lobby’s intricate plaster ceiling. This method provided years of additional service life to a corroded piping system by avoiding ceiling space limitations and demolition of the plaster ceiling.
