Demolition and disposal of obsolete structures and equipment
A-Lert dismantled this 40-year-old salt storage tank at Olin Chlor Alkali's facility in Augusta, GA. In preparation for removal of the salt storage tank, A-Lert's responsibilities included engineering of weights & lift point locations, approved lift plan, FAA approval & permitting for crane use within local airport flight pattern, personnel & property safety procedures and equipment coordination. The accompanying picture shows the removal of the lid which was followed by the cone removal. The cone was removed upward through the open top due to multiple obstructions below that eliminated the possibility of lowering the cone section to the ground. The side walls were then cut into managable pieces and removed followed by removal of the legs. The successful job was performed as planned - safely and underbudget.
