Scope Of Work
A 21st Century education pushes students to understand how to use themselves and technology together to innovate, collaborate, communicate, and ideate. We design schools for the students and technology of tomorrow.
Keeping these ideas in mind, while working with the Idaho Falls School District 91, we evaluated the 65 year old Idaho Falls High School. Functionally, the school is lacking in technology, quantity of square footage, and flexibility of space to foster collaboration, communication, and ideation. Upon the final analysis it was confirmed that the school would not be able to hold the necessary programs and it would cost 2/3 the price of a new school to renovate.
It was decided that the School District would pursue the idea of building a new 1500-capacity high school. The new Idaho Falls High School will house grades 9-12 in roughly 245,000 square feet. The core of the school will be a COLLABORATION space that fosters communication, ideation, and innovation. It will house the Commons, Food Court, Administration, Innovation Lab, Small Group Learning Rooms, and the Gallery. Surrounding the core will be the TEACHING stations, capped by the EXPRESSION and MOVE programs. Teaching stations include math, science, language arts, social studies, business, computers, yearbook, health, and special education classrooms. Expression is composed of drama, music, art, and maker spaces while move is all about an active life for the students. It is the gymnasiums, locker rooms, training room, cardio room, and wrestling room.
The project is on track for a fall or spring bond election in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
