Our Story

Founded in 2003, Urban Alarm began with a vision to create a different kind of security company: one familiar with and invested in its community and the daily lives of the people in it, not just with the equipment installed in their living spaces. Created by a lifelong resident of Washington DC, Urban Alarm reinforces its connection to the community it serves by staying involved in what’s going on locally, the places where our customers live their  lives, and the activities that are important to them. Over the years, these activities have included partnering with athletic organizations to sponsor a little league baseball team, giving campus safety lectures to local educators and school administrators, and being an active presence at several area farmer’s markets. As you see our recognizable fleet of black UA vehicles in your neighborhood more and more, our hope is that they serve as a reminder that we’re working to make your community a safer place.

By servicing only the DC area, Urban Alarm can focus more exclusively on our customers and the work we do to improve neighborhood security. Urban Alarm customers are a mix of commercial, institutional, and property management organizations as well as homeowners. By utilizing the best systems and state-of-the-art technologies, Urban Alarm maintains high standards for training and expertise, strategically filling the gap between both large, multinational companies and smaller businesses in the field. Services we provide include security system design and installation, door access systems for offices, campuses, and multi-unit commercial / residential properties; and video monitoring applications.

In December 2017 Urban Alarm was acquired by Kastle Systems becoming an independently operated business unit of one of the most highly regarded DC based security services companies. Kastle is consistently ranked the #1 Security Provider in DC by the Washington Business Journal and is on CIOReview’s 2018 List of Top Physical Security Providers in the US.
