The flat roof on my vintage Chicago condo building had outlived its life expectancy. After consulting a structural engineer, it became evident that a tear-off was necessary. What had started as routine maintenance was turning out to be the single largest and most expensive project of my building’s history. As the association president, it was important to me that we chose a roof system with the best long-term value. I researched different roof options, comparing modified bitumen with single-ply PVC. The Duro-Last PVC roofing system offered the best warranty, longest expected lifespan, least maintenance, and overall best long-term value.
MLS is a Certified Duro-Last Contractor and had good reviews. They were definitely the right choice. I appreciated that the owner, Matt Meierkort, met with me in person to discuss the project, instead of a sales rep. Matt made the process easy. He was up-front, honest, and very communicative. I also liked that MLS has good employee retention, because it shows a commitment to their employees, and to the quality of workmanship that is gained by experience.
By the time my association was ready to move forward with the roof work, it was already late fall and we needed the new roof installed before winter hit. Matt was very responsive, squeezed us into their schedule, and got our roof completed the week of Thanksgiving. He sent me daily updates as to the progress of the work, including copious pictures. This really helped me keep my association updated. My building shares a driveway with the neighboring building, who were concerned about the driveway being blocked by a dumpster. MLS worked out a practical solution, using a truck instead of a dumpster to haul away the debris, which could be moved at a moment’s notice. When the new hatch cover blew off, they came out and fixed it for no extra charge. They stand behind their work and provide quality service.
We got our new roof just in time, before winter set in for good. The crew was punctual and always courteous, despite the cold November temperatures. Considering that 90 years of roofing material was torn off the roof, I was really impressed by how little mess there was. MLS did a great job cleaning up and left hardly a trace of the work that was done. They worked with Duro-Last to make sure that our warranty was issued without any problems. We will definitely be using MLS for our future roof maintenance, it was a great company to work with.
Our Facility has a 105,000 square foot flat roof, installed in 1990. MLS has serviced our roof for the past several years.
During this time they have analyzed our needs, explained their maintenance proposals and successfully kept us dry and comfortable.
Their crews are professional and on time. Their pricing was competitive and they did a great job without interrupting our manufacturing process.
I can’t speak highly enough about Matt and MLS. He gave us great, out-of-the-box solutions for our problem. He fully explained in layman terms what needed to be done and why. Prices were competitive with excellent workmanship. Every night trash was hauled away and the site left in an orderly way. On top of all of this, the initial visit and bids were prompt and the job was completed on time.
I highly recommend MLS Construction. MLS will definitely be my goto company for the next project. I needed a roof replacement and, thankfully, Matt was here when the insurance adjuster was inspecting the roof. The insurance adjuster only wanted to cover a partial roof repair even though it needed a full replacement. Matt served as an advocate and helped get the adjuster to agree to the full replacement. The MLS crew were fast and thorough, and they kept me apprised of what they were doing. I'm very happy with the quality of the work. The roof looks great and it now has the features that a roof is supposed to have. Thanks MLS!

Our condominium association has worked with MLS for many years. We bid our large jobs and MLS always comes in competitively. They know our building's history and they work with us to keep on top of ongoing issues. They are willing to work with our budgeting issues to address larger projects and to maximize our association's health. We looked for competent, responsible contractors to help us evaluate and address our building's issues; MLS is one of the rare few that shoot straight, ask the right questions, and do right by their customers and their own people.
Bought a home and contracted MLS to do several jobs on the property; owner of company very knowledgeable about services needed and his specialized tradesmen employed to do fast, efficient, thorough work start to finish. MLS is very flexible about scheduling and any adjustments needed that may come up. Owner has experience with special rehab loans and this made it much easier in terms of required paperwork for lender/FHA. Would recommend company and would consider using contracting with them again.
I highly recommend Matt and MLS Construction. We had our house sided, trim wrapped with aluminum, and some electrical work done. We are very pleased with the results (and so are the neighbors). Matt and the crew were responsive, professional, efficient, and finished ahead of schedule! This is our fifth renovation project and by far the best experience. Definitely recommend and would not hesitate to use them for future projects.
MLS did construction on my grooming shop and it was a MAJOR renovation! These guys were on top of everything! They handled plumbing, electric, painting , built walls, redid the floor. No issues whatsoever! They had keys to my business and were very trustworthy as well. Highly recommend them for any project!
