Scope Of Work

RS&H led the design Charrette and is providing full design services for the preparation of Design-Bid-Build construction documents for this new elementary school.  During the Charrette stages, RS&H worked with a Certified Value Specialist to conduct an Integrated Value Based Design Charrette.  This is an integrated approach to concept level design and value, which allows stakeholder to establish a hierarchy of building characteristics and components, as well as optimize the project for available funds.  

The new facility, which will replace and consolidate two existing elementary schools, is being designed utilizing BIM. 21st Century education curriculum are incorporated throughout the facility, including libraries, learning hubs with flexible studios, central commons with a stage, outdoor classrooms, general administrative areas, state-of-the art kitchen and food processing technologies and dining facility, and all associated support spaces required for a fully functioning facility.  Located in the Fort Knox Historic District, the building features brick and limestone façade with site features that complement the surrounding context.  

Designed as a LEED Silver facility, there are numerous sustainable design elements throughout, including daylighting features and a geothermal heat pump system.
