Scope Of Work

Lendlease provided construction management services for the Katz Women's Hospital Bed Tower  a new oval shaped nine-story plus one basement level.

The first floor features the main entrance and lobby, which includes a mediation room with reflecting pool and retail space that connects to the existing Main Tower. The upper floors consist of 162 private patient rooms including 14 labor/delivery rooms, 16 ante partum rooms, 60 postpartum rooms, 60 med surg rooms, 12 gyn rooms, c-section or's, a neo-natal stabilization area and six well baby nurseries.

The exterior enclosure comprises multiple systems. The lower portion of the building is a custom glass store-front assembly and the upper portion is unitized aluminum and glass curtainwall assembly with architectural precast panels and a metal panel system.

The building has an architecturally exposed structural steel and glass canopy covering the entrance pavilion along the front façade. Other major architectural elements that are incorporated into the building's façade are a metal standing seam roof that is utilized to connect the fourth floor roof to the existing Main Tower and connector bridge from the eighth floor.

To facilitate this project, new access ways, pedestrian circulation, landscaping and utilities had to be constructed. These elements included a women's garden with meditation areas, stone benches for seating and an outdoor deck.
