Our Story

Our clients include state and municipal entities, corporations, religious facilitiies, museums, zoos, theaters, and owners and managers of multi-family residential developments. Our specialized experience is the design of public and educational facilities (kindergartens thru universities),, libraries and historic building renmovation and adaptive reuse. , as well as preparing pre-design programs, financial and market analyses, and conceptual site and building alternatives.in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, site and urban planning, and pre-designs that allow us to work with clients to formulate the program and space needs for their project that are used by us to design and render a concept design with its associated costs.  This allows the client to find funding and obtain comments on and revisions of the design prior to bidding the project..

The firm is led by Jay R. Carow, AIA:who has been: 

  • a student of  Ludwig Mies van der Rohe at the Illinois Institute of Technology where he earned his bachelor of architecture degree,
  • a student of Karl Koch at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his master of architecture degree,
  • one of first Peace Corps Volunteers, he served in Malaysia for two years designing housing for rural development and teaching architecture.  He returned seven years later to serve as the first dean of Malaysia's initial school of architecture.
  • former senior design associate with C.F. Murphy Associates, a 500-person firm in Chicago
  • professor of architecture at two universities in the U.S for six years
  • a reviewer of library grant applicatations for State Library Commissions in Illinois and Massachusetts
  • obtained multiple State grants tp fund the restoration and renovation of Southbury's historic buildings
