Our Story

In 1972, Emery Sapp & Sons began with a single piece of construction equipment, one employee and a straightforward business philosophy; being in business tomorrow means satisfying our customers today. Over the years we have grown from our humble beginnings to having over 600 employee owners, 500 pieces of heavy equipment, and jobs spanning across 5 states, while still maintaining its’ commitment to satisfying our customers needs on a daily basis. Today Emery Sapp & Sons is a 100% Employee-Owned ESOP, meaning every Employee-Owner has a vested interest in the success of each project that they are working on; resulting in the timely, high quality work that our customers have grown the expect from ESS. Emery Sapp & Sons continued focus is providing quality products to our customers, while evolving and expanding with the ever changing industry.

ESS offers a comprehensive list of services to satisfy the demands of any project. Our services include excavation, grading, concrete paving, underground utilities, structures and more. ESS is also proud to serve both the private and public sectors of our communities. ESS has served both of these sectors across a wide range of project types including Federal, County, Municipal, Military, Aviation, Department of Transportation, Residential, Multi Family, Commercial, and Substations.

Emery Sapp & Sons is also committed to advancing our work as technology advances with the industry. ESS is on the leading edge of new techniques and technology in the construction industry including Stringless Paving, Hydro Excavation, Bridge Sliding, and Chemical Rock Fracturing. These innovations have helped ESS to continue to deliver award winning work to all of the communities we serve.

ESS’s Corporate Headquarters is located in Columbia, MO and we have branch offices in Kansas City, Springfield, and Joplin.
