Scope Of Work
The National Interagency Biodefense Campus (NIBC) is a critical national homeland security asset, as designated by the National Security/National Homeland Security Council and the USACE Protective Design Center of Excellence in the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). Edifice performed this work in concurrent phases. New construction included an Entry Control Point, Visitors Center, and a security screening area. Additional program elements included a queuing area, waiting area, search area, security office, guard room, equipment storage room, visitors badging counter, and an unsecure meeting room. Edifice renovated the USAMRIID Laboratory, a 477-space parking lot, and associated features such as curbs, drainage, and lighting. The perimeter is controlled by new anti-vehicle security fencing, security lighting, and an access gate around the South Campus buildings. Due to natural limestone deposits at the site, special foundation work was required. Supporting facilities include utilities, fire protection, alarm systems, information systems, site improvements, and walkways.
