The Hansen Company was founded by Craig Hansen in 1979.  During its early beginnings The Hansen Company quickly moved from “start up” to “mainstay” in the commercial construction arena in Central Iowa and is consistently included in the Des Moines Business Record’s Book of Lists as one of the Top 10 Contractors of Greater Des Moines as ranked by annual volume.  Today The Hansen Company not only provides construction services through a variety of delivery methods but it is also a full service real estate firm with development, brokerage and property management capabilities.  Through the years we’ve been involved with a wide variety of project types in 16 different states.

We believe that there is no replacement for experience and we are very proud to have an average tenure of 20+ years for our field staff and onsite supervision.  The wisdom and ability of our superintendents is second to none.  This onsite leadership is invaluable and a large part of The Hansen Company’s success.  Our seasoned superintendents also help us to maintain an impeccable safety record which achieved an EMR of .79 or the year 2018.  We are confident that the team members we have on staff are some of the best in the business.

During our 35 year history we’ve developed Legacy Clients who make us their first and only call.  As a matter of fact, 70% of our total volume comes from Repeat or Negotiated Clients so Design-Build and Design-Assist are environments which we are very accustomed to and structures that we feel best serve our clients through open communication, early planning and team collaboration.
