 What is BB-Bid?

BB-Bid is The Blue Book’s FREE online solution for streamlining the bid communication process. BB-Bid enables you to manage the bidding stage easily, quickly and securely. BB-Bid provides you with all the tools you need to post online plan rooms, upload and message your own customized forms and manage your private vendors. In addition, BB-Bid provides direct access to the over one million company listings, updated continuously in The Blue Book’s industry leading database! BB-Bid expedites the communication between buyers and sellers, saving valuable time, increasing productivity and ultimately – profitability.

Does BB-Bid provide access to The Blue Book’s vendor database?

Yes, in fact, with direct access to The Blue Book’s database of over one million company listings in 563 classifications across 60 markets, you can easily select and add vendors to either your private vendor database or just to a specific project. As an added bonus, when The Blue Book updates information on its vendors, you have the option to apply those updates to your private list.

How do can I add private vendors into BB-Bid?

BB-Bid enables you to upload your private vendors quickly and easily. Simply go to “Add/Upload Vendors” under the My Vendors tab. You have the option to upload an entire excel spreadsheet or manually enter your private vendors one at a time by entering a phone number. The information will be cross-referenced against The Blue Book’s database. Upon a match, BB-Bid will upload your vendors with their Blue Book assigned category(s) and, if you choose, any contact or location information that you may be missing. If a match is not made or if you have different contact information, you can easily enter the information.

How are my private vendors organized in BB-Bid?

You can organize your private vendors by ‘Groups’ and ‘Categories.’ The Blue Book has assigned each of its 563 classifications a corresponding C.S.I. number, which will sequence your list by the industry’s standard format.

What types of messages can I send using BB-Bid?

BB-Bid is to be used exclusively for project messaging. You can send the following message types using BB-Bid’s pre-defined templates:

  • Invitation to Bid
  • Request for Quotation
  • Request for Proposal
  • Request for Qualification
  • Request for Information
  • Notice of Pre-Bid Meeting
  • Notice of Addendum
  • Bid Date Extended
  • Reminder to Bid
  • Notice of Award
  • Notice to Proceed
  • Miscellaneous Memo

You can also upload and message your company’s Pre-Qualification and Invitation to Bid forms.

BB-Bid cannot be used for marketing or promotional purposes. If you are misusing the service, The Blue Book reserves the right to terminate your access.

Can I upload and message documents in BB-Bid?

You can upload documents – such as pre-bid meeting notes, addendums and bid submittal forms which can be sent to your invited vendors via email or fax.

Can I create an online plan room in BB-Bid?

You can create a private online plan room within BB-Bid that will host your project’s plans, specifications, bid documents and addendums. It enables FREE viewing and downloads for your invited vendors along with print delivery options.

If you already have an online plan room established, BB-Bid provides access for your invited vendors through its “WebLinks” functionality.

Does the BB-Bid Online Plan Room provide take-off tools?

BB-Bid will work with a variety of take-off tools:

  • You can download “Brava Viewer” free from infograph.com which enables you to take measurements and counts.
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 provides measuring tools as part of their paid software.
  • Through a special agreement, Quest Solutions, Inc. is now offering a customized version of their premier estimating package, which has all the features of the full service but is made especially for BB-Bid plan rooms.

Can I promote my projects to The Blue Book's vendor database?

At the point of messaging your private vendors, you have the option to promote your project to Blue Book vendors in your specified classifications. Only vendors in the categories you specified can view and respond to your project leads.

Can I monitor my projects' activity?

Yes, you can monitor your projects’ activity from your “Dashboard” where you can track message delivery status, responses, RFIs and bid submittals. You can also generate a report listing plan room visitors and what documents they viewed and/or ordered digitally via email or download.

How much does BB-Bid cost?

BB-Bid is FREE to use. There are NO START-UP FEES, NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES and NO SUPPORT FEES.

The Blue Book generates 100% of its revenue from advertising. Vendors featured in Blue Book regional directories purchase Marketing Programs to increase their exposure and project opportunities when industry companies search The Blue Book to send “Invitations to Bid” and “Requests for Quote”.

What are the system requirements to use BB-Bid?

To begin using BB-Bid, you need:

  • Internet connection – minimum dial-up/broadband recommended
  • Windows 98 or higher
  • Internet Explorer, Netscape and Firefox browsers supported
  • Minimum display resolution of 800 x 600.

How do I get started using BB-Bid?

  • Go to www.thebluebook.com.
  • Enter your company’s main fax number and click “GO”!
  • BB-Bid will fax you your password. You’re now registered…its that simple!
  • Just enter your password and call the BB-Bid Product Support Team at (888) 303-2243 for your FREE training.
