Starts for the month of April

Construction starts fell 4% in April to $1.04T. Nonresidential starts led the drop as manufacturing fell 22% following strong performance in March. Nonbuilding starts rose 7%, and residential building starts gained 12%.  [ watch video ]

The Dodge Momentum Index declined in April after pullback in commercial planning. It fell 5.1%, with the commercial component of the DMI falling 8% and the institutional component improving .3%  [ watch video ]
