Blue Book Messaging

What is Blue Book Messaging?

To provide faster, more efficient communication, The Blue Book enables you to quickly and easily message Blue Book listed companies "Invitations to Bid" for services and "Requests for Quote" for materials and equipment. You can now select multiple companies across several classifications in various regions and direct message them individually or simultaneously via fax, email or in-network. Companies that are registered in the BB-Bid network can receive, view and respond to your ITBs and RFQs from their private "In-Box."

In addition to direct messaging, The Blue Book provides you with an option to publish your ITBs and RFQs in "BidScope." This enables you to solicit additional bids and quotes from Blue Book listed companies that are registered in the BB-Bid network. Unlike traditional project news reporting services, "BidScope" allows you to target your ITBs and RFQs to specified regional categories. By allowing you to select your audience, this will increase your number of competitive prices and eliminate the nuisance of unsolicited responses from categories that you have already secured prices or contracted.

Blue Book Messaging is a modified version of BB-Bid, the industry's premier online bid management and procurement system. Like BB-Bid, you will appreciate Blue Book Messaging's ease of use and extraordinary results. When sourcing companies, you will be presented with Blue Book advertisers first. This will enable you to view display advertisements and company profiles to help you with your selection process.

How do I get started?

Just go to thebluebook.com's home page, select the message type that you want to send ITB, RFQ or RFI click on "Message" and follow these 3 easy steps:

  • Step 1: Enter your project's main information - title, address, bid date and time - scope of work and the location(s) of plans and specifications.
  • Step 2: Search The Blue Book's database by selecting a regional directory and entering a "Keyword." Based on your keyword, The Blue Book will return related classifications. Within those classifications, you can select multiple companies for direct messaging or publish in "BidScope" to solicit bids from the entire classification. This process can be repeated across several classifications prior to submitting your message.
  • Step 3: Enter your contact information and submit your message. To assure that you are the creator and sender of the ITB, RFQ or RFI, and to eliminate promotional type messages, a Blue Book representative will contact you before your message is released. If you have any questions or need assistance, please call the BB-Bid Support Staff at (888) 303-2243.
